Longfellow Mine, San Juan County, Red Mtn Mining District © Kathryn R, Burke A surprising amount of the old mining history has been well preserved thanks to active historical societies in both Ouray County and San Juan County (Silverton). Both counties also have excellent museums and open mine tours. Take the time to paint and photograph these old sites and learn more about the area history. |
